About Us
BUSINESS PROFILE

Bob Griffis Minerals is owned by Bob and Sarah Griffis, and has been in the business of buying and selling mineral specimens since 1978.  We have been on the web since 1995. Over the years we have dealt in several large collections, including university and estate consignments. If you have a collection you would like to sell or consign, please contact us.

We offer full appraisal services for your mineral collection, including appraisals for insurance (replacement cost) and for donations (IRS fair market value). Please click here for a more complete description of our services.

In 1994, we first offered a custom designed software program for cataloging mineral collections, GneissWare™ Mineral Catalog, written by a mineral collector specifically for mineral collectors using the Windows NT, 2000, and XP platforms.  Click here for more information, and to download your free full-featured trial today.

A BIT ABOUT US

Bob Griffis has been collecting minerals since he was 8 years old (that's quite a long time ago!).  He has degrees in Geology (both a B.Sc. and a M.Sc.); over 8 years of work experience as a computer systems analyst, developing computer applications for geological research, database systems, and equipment control software; and has been working since 1989 as an environmental manager for several corporations.  Bob has published in the fields of igneous geology, geotechnical engineering, computer programming and computer applications in geology.  While work pays the bills, his first love is, and always has been, minerals - particularly wulfenite and minerals from the southwestern United States.

Sarah Griffis began collecting minerals while in college, and while she has a special fondness for Sand Selenites, she also likes artistic specimens.  Sarah has a B.Sc. degree in Geophysics, worked in the software industry, and has published in the field of computer applications in geology.
