Wulfenite (bipyramidal)

Erupcion/Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos District, Sierra de Los Lamentos, Municipio de Ahumada, Chihuahua, Mexico

DESCRIPTION:

Elongated, tapered crystals of lustrous, orange-brown Wulfenite to 14 mm are perched on light-colored matrix. Of all the Wulfenite habits at the Los Lamentos Mine, the bipyramidal habit seen in this specimen is the rarest. Most of the pinacoid terminations are truncated. A couple of crystals are broken of at the matrix, but all the remaining crystals are in perfect condition. This very showy specimen was raised prior to 1978.
