Lavrinha, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Sold
Thumbnail

30 x 30 x 21 mm overall

Sharp, doubly-terminated, dipyramidal crystal of dark Anatase to 11 mm with gemmy, yellowish tips and bluish flashes of color, is perched on a shard of recrystallized, glassy Quartz included with brownish clay(?). Several smaller Anatase are also present. Thin, tabular yellowish crystals of an unknown mineral are scattered on the Quartz. In excellent condition, this was collected by Ed Swoboda from a small prospect labeled Lavrinha by Ed, near Cuiaba. It was held back by Ed Swoboda for nearly 20 years. These pieces are very rare, and this is the largest crystal I have seen from this locality. No damage.
