Barite on Quartz

LOCATION:

Xikuangshan Sb deposit, Lengshuijiang, Loudi Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

DESCRIPTION:

Lustrous, translucent, blocky crystals of greyish Barite with a yellowish tinge and distinct zoning, to 16 mm across, are perched on a plate of lustrous, sugary Quartz with minor iron staining. Remnants of corroded Stibnite are associated with some of the iron staining. Though the Barites are clean and in good condition, a few show minor damage upon inspection with a 10x loupe, but it is not obvious otherwise. From a small lot of older material I recently acquired, it is hard to find specimens of this size and quality on the market. This is a fine and showy Barite specimen,
