Quartz (var. Prase)
Mine 2, Huanggang Mine, Keshiketeng Co., Chifeng Prefecture, Inner Mongolia A.R., China
130 x 52 x 50 mm overall
A cluster of more than six lustrous, light-green Quartz (var. Prase) crystals with the very-well-defined polycrystalline surfaces typical for specimen from this locality. The largest of these Quartz crystals measures 116 x 26 x 20 mm. I only found one very small chip that is obscured by the complex crystallization. The prism faces consist of hundreds of small rhombohedral faces. Most of the specimens of hedenbergite-included Quartz from this mid-2013 find consist of singles or pairs, so this multiple-crystal cluster is much less common, and is in near perfect condition.
