Quartz on Hematite

DESCRIPTION:

Classic transparent to translucent Quartz points to 34 mm across, with pale to strong rusty Hematite inclusions at the tips, cover a matrix of kidney-store ore heavily coated with sparkling-black specular Hematite from this classic Cumberland locality. This excellent specimen is from the Don Boydston collection, which was mostly unknown to the collector community after Don went into seclusion in the 1960s, and was brought to market in 2005, when John Seibel got the collection after an estate sale. Like every piece in the Boydston collection, this is a top-notch specimen, and I have enjoyed it for over 20 years.
