Azurite

$175

LOCATION:

Lavrion District Mines, Lavrion (Laurium) District, Attikí (Attika) Prefecture, Greece

DESCRIPTION:

Numerous, lustrous rich-royal-blue balls of Azurite to 2.5 mm richly cover both sides of contrasting pale bluish-white matrix. Unlike many Azurites from the ancient Laurium mining district, this contains Azurite rosettes and not just crusts. The pale matrix seems to be a combination of botryoidal Hemimorphite and Calcite, though it has not been analyzed. A few missing Azurite spheres are barely noticeable and do not detract from this nice and affordable specimen.

SIZE: 71 x 51 x 30 mm overall (Small Cabinet)

Specimen Number:  GR128
