Azurite on Conichalcite(?)

$300

LOCATION:

Concepción del Oro, Municipío de Concepción del Oro, Zacatecas, Mexico

DESCRIPTION:

Sparkly, dark-blue Azurite crystals to 1 mm richly cover a matrix accented with green Conichalcite(?). This fine specimen dates to about the mid 1960s, when this collection was assembled. The original collection label gives Santa Eulalia as the locality but this is probably not valid, since Santa Eulalia did not produce Azurite except in the earliest workings according to Minerals of Mexico by Panczner. It has been looked at by several experts on Mexican minerals, and the consensus, based on the age, matrix and associated minerals, is Concepción del Oro as the locality. This is a very attractive Azurite specimen. No damage.

SIZE: 102 x 45 x 49 mm overall (Large Cabinet)
with up to 1 mm Azurite crystals

COLLECTION: ex. Paul Edwards collection.

Specimen Number:  PE1183
