DESCRIPTION:
Multiple, lustrous, gemmy, dark-purple Quartz (var. Amethyst) crystals to 18 mm cap a plate of white Quartz points to 5 mm. Although there are a couple of small chips visible with a 10x loupe, this is of the highest quality for this locality. Field collected by Jim Mann in 1989, it is ex. Leonard Himes Personal Collection, who is known for his excellent taste in minerals, and was sold by him as it no longer fits into his collection of only self-collected minerals.
