Magnetite with Quartz (var. Chalcedony)

$155

LOCATION:

Iron Springs District (Three Peaks), Iron Co., Utah, USA

DESCRIPTION:

Several sharp, very lustrous, metallic-light-gray, octahedrons of Magnetite to 25 mm are perched atop a matrix of solid Magnetite accented with traces of lemon-yellow apatite. The luster of the Magnetite is brighter than typical for this locality, and is mirror-plate in places. In person, this Magnetite is very aesthetic, with translucent spheres of Quartz (var. Chalcedony) partly coating some of the octahedral faces, and a few scattered rosettes of milky-white Chalcedony. The specimen is free of damage, and is a great example from this classic Utah locality.

SIZE: 65 x 60 x 44 mm overall (Small Cabinet)

Specimen Number:  UTH4
