DESCRIPTION:

A sharp, lustrous, doubly-terminated Rutile crystal measuring 15 x 10 x 7 mm, is perched on contrasting tan Pyrophyllite. The Rutile has distinct flashes of red and mirror-bright faces (making it difficult to photograph), and is in perfect condition. From the Richard P. Hauck collection, who is one of the founders of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, this is a very fine specimen from the old and remote Champion Spark Plugs titanium mine.
