Vesuvianite
$150
LOCATION:
Melilitic skarn occurrence, Maroneia, Komotini Prefecture, Thraki Dept., Greece
DESCRIPTION:
Lustrous, greenish-yellow, blocky crystal of Vesuvianite, measuring 26 x 15 x 15 mm, is perched on massive to coarsely crystallized, yellow Vesuvianite. This is a very good and quite large example of Vesuvianite from this skarn zone locality near Maronia. According to my Greek source, only a few pieces like this have been found, so this is an extremelly rare specimen, in great condition.
