Calcite
LOCATION:
Meikle Mine, Bootstrap District, near Carlin, Elko County, Nevada, USA
DESCRIPTION:
A very unusual and rare specimen from this famous Nevada Mine. Glassy, intergrown crystals of Calcite are mostly translucent with one side distinctly black in color. This is a very fine Calcite with superb luster and well formed striations, from the Meikle Mine, best known for its Barites. The occurrence of Calcite with dark or black hues from this underground mine is quite uncommon. Collected in 2003 to 2004 by Casey Jones. From Casey Jones personal stash, it is complete all around, with no damage.
