Fluorite on Quartz

DESCRIPTION:

Many gemmy green Fluorites to 21 mm across cover both sides of this matrix specimen. These modified cubes of Fluorite are highly lustrous, and are so transparent the matrix beneath can be clearly seen. They easily pick up the surrounding light and glow from within. Clear, glassy points of Quartz to 6 mm long accent the matrix. With only one cleaved crystal on the back, this specimen is perfect and displays well from all sides. The photos can't capture how nice this piece looks in person. These Fluorites were reportedly recovered in 2013 during construction of a 13 km tunnel near Youxi for the Xiangtang–Putian high-speed railway, and good quality pieces are expensive, even in China. I was able to hand pick a few pieces with no damage, and this is a great example.
