Malachite on Chrysocolla
$295
LOCATION:
L'Etoile du Congo Mine (Star of the Congo Mine), Lubumbashi, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
DESCRIPTION:
Balls of lustrous, rich-green Malachite to 11 mm are perched on botryoidal, pastel-blue Chrysocolla. It is aesthetic, pristine, and displays well. In 2002 the Gobin brothers recovered a small lot of these, and I was one of the first to see them in Tucson in 2003, where I acquired this piece for my personal collection. This is a classic Malachite and Chrysocolla combination specimen from the Democratic Republic of Congo. No damage.
