Malachite with Calcite

DESCRIPTION:

A very fine specimen from the famous Old Dominion Mine at Globe, Arizona. Earlier, pastel green, satiny, botryoidal Malachite richly covers the gossan matrix. Sparkling, emerald-green, Malachite microcrystals cover portions of the gossan matrix and are partly perched on botryoidal Malachite. Colorless, glassy Calcite richly and aesthetically cover portions of the Malachite, and scattered patches of pastel-green Chrysocolla provide a striking accent. This attractive combination piece from this historic Arizona locale, dates to 1908 or earlier, and was purchased in the early 1980s from John Mediz. Specimens from this famous Arizona mine are seldom available. In excellent condition.
