Quartz with Epidote

Hongquizhen Quarry, Meigu Co., Liangshan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China

DESCRIPTION:

Glassy, lustrous, mostly-transparent Quartz crystals to 38 cm across are richly accented by numerous, glassy to translucent, very lustrous, tabular, fan-like crystal groups of bright-green Epidote to 10 mm across. Some Quartz crystals show internal patchs of bright-red Hematite as inclusions, and some faces are preferentially coated with microcrystalline sugary Quartz. In pristine condition, with the expected contacting around the extreme perimeter, this large and showy specimen is from Sichuan, China and was collected in about 2004.
