DESCRIPTION:
Numerous vesicles in the basalt are filled with various zeolites, including some filled with clear to snowy-white Analcime, some with delicate sprays of clear Natrolite to 2 mm, and some with an apparent combination of the Natrolite on Analcime. This specimen was collected in 1978 from a thin basalt flow located just 0.2 miles north of the Sterling Borax Mine, and the area is now closed to collecting. This is a nice example of California zeolites.
