Gyrolite with Calcite

Bombay Quarry, Mumbai Suburban District, Salsette Island, Maharashtra, India

DESCRIPTION:

This specimen features several large, attractive, spherical aggregates of light-tan-colored Gyrolite, the largest measuring up to 2.6 cm across sitting on grey-black basalt matrix completely covered with small spherical light-tan-colored Gyrolites lying atop white to clear Calcite crystals. This very aesthetic specimen is from a find from the early 1980s when some of the best Gyrolites in the world were found.
