Cassiterite on Quartz

LOCATION:
Durango, Mexico
DESCRIPTION:
Slightly frosted Quartz points, to 25 x 10 mm, host several lustrous-black, sharp tetragonal crystals of Cassiterite to 13 x 12 mm. There are a couple of broken Quartz points, but the Cassiterites are in perfect condition. This specimen could be trimmed to a miniature to remove the damaged Quartz points, but I like it as is. This specimen is from the A.G. Boynton collection. Boynton was a mining engineer circa 1910-1920, and City Manager of Boulder City, Nevada in the mid-1940s. He assembled a nice collection of rare specimens from the localities of the 1910s to the 1940s.
SIZE: 61 x 53 x 34 mm overall (Small Cabinet)
