Fluorite on Quartz with Sphalerite

Sold

LOCATION:

W. L. Davis-Deardorff Mine, Cave-In-Rock Subdistrict, Illinois-Kentucky Fluorospar District, Hardin County, Illinois, US

DESCRIPTION:

This is a major Fluorite specimen. This stalactite of Quartz is richly covered with lustrous purple Fluorite cubes to 30 mm which are partly coated with small flattened Calcites scalenahedrons to 5 mm. The Fluorites have yellow cores. Lustrous black Sphalerite crystals to 17 mm accent the specimen. It is complete all around, as the photos show, with just the base showing where it was removed. I only see two Fluorites with minor damage which is not a problem with such a large, classic piece. This is a really fabulous specimen that can be displayed from all sides. It is nicer in person than the photos show, as I have a hard time photographing specimens of this size with my setup. This is ex. Dan & Rhoda Brock collection.

SIZE: 165 x 97 x 65 mm overall (Large Cabinet)

COLLECTION: ex. Carolyn Seitz collection

Specimen Number:  F302
