Fluorite

Goscheneralp, Goschenen Valley, Uri, Switzerland

Sold
Small Cabinet

82 x 67 x 47 mm overall

This old specimen has blue cubes of Fluorite to 36 mm on one side, and clear cubes of Fluorite to 24 mm perched on sharp, clear Quartz points on the reverse. As seen in the photos, there is some damage. According to an accompanying note from John Veevaert, this Fluorite was collected by a well-known collector in the period from 1880 to 1910, and he was a member of German Royalty. There is a small area on one of the Fluorites with some residual adhesive where his red Hallmark was located at one time. The specimen had the Hallmark on it, but a flood in John's barn removed it. While the original label was preserved, the collector's name is not on the label.
