Grossular garnet

Cerro de Moka, Sierra de Cruces, Mun. de Sierra Mojada, Coahuila, Mexico

$175
Small Cabinet

71 x 49 x 56 mm overall

A single, sharp, dramatic, well-formed, lustrous crystal of cinammon-red Grossular garnet measuring 36 x 16 x 16 mm is perched on strikingly contrasting white matrix. The matrix is a mixture of fine grained clear to whitish garnets and what is likely Wollastonite. Like all these specimens, this garnet was mechanically excavated without any repairs, and is very excellent condition, with just one small chip on the reverse side, as is normal with these specimens. It displays well from nearly all sides. The piece is very good, and quite large, for this locality, with great color and aesthetics. Collected December of 1992 by Graham Sutton and Bob Griffis.

Specimen #  BG19-01
