Quartz (var. Smoky and Amethyst)

Krystal Tips Mine, Petersen Mountain, Hallelujah Junction area, Washoe Co., Nevada, USA

$120
Small Cabinet

91 x 62 x 38 mm overall

A large, lustrous, flattened light-smoky Quartz crystal acts as the base for a doubly-terminated, large, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, very gemmy Quartz scepter cap. The scepter has pronounced bi-color zoning with a band of dark-smoky color at the base, and purple "Amethyst" at the top termination. The top of the specimen actually displays multiple scepter caps. This specimen was collected by Rick Kennedy in May 2015, displays well from all sides, and is in perfect condition. I went through every flat in Denver, and only selected specimens without damage and with interesting aesthetics from this find.
