Chrysocolla with Malachite

L'Etoile du Congo Mine (Star of the Congo Mine), Lubumbashi, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)

Sold
Miniature

51 x 38 x 37 mm overall

Striking, coral-like tapered fingers of very pretty sky-blue Chrysocolla with nice luster ending in botryoidal caps to 7 mm across. The Chrysocolla is beautifully accented with balls of lustrous green primary Malachite to 3 mm. It is pristine, and displays all around, 360 degrees. In 2002 the Gobin brothers recovered a small lot of these, and I was one of the first to see them in Tucson in 2003, where I acquired this piece for my personal collection. This is a classic and gorgeous Chrysocolla combination specimen from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Specimen #  DRC-13
