Chrysocolla on Malachite

L'Etoile du Congo Mine (Star of the Congo Mine), Lubumbashi, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)

Sold
Small Cabinet

62 x 46 x 43 mm overall

This is a stunning botryoidal Chrysocolla, with rich sky-blue color and a luster that looks wet, almost like plastic, but is completely natural! The balls of Chrysocolla are up to 20 mm across. It is super aesthetic, pristine, and displays all around, 360 degrees. In 2002 the Gobin brothers recovered a small lot of these, and I was one of the first to see them in Tucson in 2003, where I acquired this piece for my personal collection. This is a classic and gorgeous Chrysocolla combination specimen from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Specimen #  DRC-31
