Andradite garnet ( var. Demantoid )

Belqeys Mountain (Kuh-e-Belgheys), near Takab, West Azarbaijan Province, Iran

Sold
Miniature

58 x 55 x 45 mm overall
up to 8 mm Demantoids

A number of lustrous, gemmy, forest-green Andradite (v. Demantoid) garnet crystals are displayed in a linear pocket on this matrix specimen. The largest is 8 mm in size. These are from a new find in Iran, far from the previous Kerman locality, and I was able to secure 3 of the top specimens available. This specimen is in excellent condition, and unlike most demantoid garnets which have a yellowish tint, these are a nice green color. The camera had a difficult time capturing the gemminess and intense color of these garnets, and they are much nicer in person.

Specimen #  IRD03
