Chalcocite
Flambeau Mine, Ladysmith, Rusk Co., Wisconsin, USA
Sold
Miniature
44 x 38 x 25 mm overall
Numerous, sharply-formed crystals of Chalcocite to 13 mm across are intergrown to create a fine and aesthetic cluster. The Chalcocite crystals have a beautiful blue and purple iridescence. Very slight chipping is present along the margin, not uncommon in these, as seen in the photos. Overall I think this is in very good condition. From the famous mid-1990s finds at the Flambeau Mine, these Chalcocites have already become U.S. classics. The mine was closed 20 years ago, is now reclaimed and future collecting is impossible.
