Pyrite with Sphalerite

Huanzala Mine, Huallanca District, Dos de Mayo Province, Departmente de Huanuco, Peru

$180
Small Cabinet

66 x 53 x 38 mm overall
up to 25 mm Pyrite

This is a large cluster of intergrown, splendent, brassy crystals of octahedral Pyrite, to 2.5 cm on an edge, with minor Sphalerite. The back side is made up of sparkling small Pyrite crystals. One side of the specimen is contacted, where it was removed from the wall, but this is of no significance to the display. One of the larger Pyrites is contacted on the tip, but it does not detract much. The specimen is complete everywhere else and remarkably pristine! Purchased in 1983 from Perkins Minerals. A very good specimen for the price.
