Quartz (var. Prase) on Hedenbergite

DESCRIPTION:
A nice matrix specimen of green prase Quartz crystals to 33 mm perched on fibrous Hedenbergite. As an accent, a few tiny hematite roses are perched on the matrix. From the “Broken-leg pocket,” which was found by Christos Spiromitros (Thessaloniki) in April, 2008, it is one of the better pieces collected from this difficult pocket, and has only a few broken crystals. According to Chris, “it is probably the least-damaged specimen of this unique pocket.” The Quartz from this pocket is unusual for Serifos in that the crystals are translucent with an atypical color of green with a bluish cast. This is of Top quality and displays well! My source in Greece tells me the zone is mined out, so specimens of this quality will not be around for long.
