Quartz with Hematite

Florence Mine, Egremont, Cumberland, England, United Kingdom

Sold
Small Cabinet

95 x 88 x 49 mm overall

Glassy, lustrous, transparent, colorless crystals of Quartz to 13 mm cover this flashy specimen. The reverse clearly shows casts after a tabular mineral, perhaps Barite, and cutting through the specimen are thin plates of Quartz, also casts, covered with shiny black blades of specular Hematite. Very clean and free of damage; I think this one is better in person than I could capture in the photos. Quartz and hematite combination pieces are well known from Britain's iron district, but the casts make this is unusual piece. Comes with old Minerals Unlimited label.
