Calcite and Chrysocolla on Malachite
Sold
LOCATION:
Ray Mine, Ray District, near Kearney, Dripping Springs Mts., Pinal County, Arizona, USA
DESCRIPTION:
An extremely rare Calcite from the Ray Mine in Arizona. Clusters of Calcite crystals to 28 mm across are perched on a matrix of Malachite covered with Chrysocolla. The largest Calcite crystals are approximately 28 mm across. The Calcites show an interesting pattern of differential growth with smooth flat faces alternating with faces covered with a pebbly texture. I purchased this specimen directly from a miner at the Ray Mine in 1978. No damage.
