Grossular garnet

Cerro de Moka, Sierra de Cruces, Mun. de Sierra Mojada, Coahuila, Mexico

Sold
Thumbnail

25 x 18 x 14 mm overall

Nice cluster of sharp, intergrown, well-formed, lustrous, bright-ruby-red Grossular garnets to 5 mm are perched on a well-trimmed strikingly contrasting white matrix. The matrix is a mixture of fine grained clear to whitish garnets and what is likely Wollastonite. Like all these specimens, the garnets were mechanically excavated without any repairs, and is in excellent condition. The thumbnail is quite good for this locality, and has nice aesthetics. Collected December of 1992 by Graham Sutton and Bob Griffis.
